Two more projects look to join UK’s HyNet carbon capture cluster

Two new carbon capture projects have entered negotiations to join the UK’s HyNet cluster, marking a potential expansion of the project’s Track-1 CCS network.

The first is Uniper’s Connah’s Quay Low Carbon Power project in North Wales. This is a proposed power station capable of capturing carbon dioxide while producing enough low-carbon energy to power around 900,000 homes.

“Government’s support for the development of CCS infrastructure, creating the framework needed for pioneering projects like our Connah’s Quay Low Carbon Power, is vital for moving towards clean power 2030 and at the same time maintaining secure electricity supply,” said Mike Lockett, Uniper UK Country Chair.
