YANMU East Leads Egypt’s Logistics Sector with EDGE-Certified Green Warehouses

YANMU East Logistics Park has bagged EDGE Advanced certification, recognizing the energy-efficient design of its warehouses and reinforcing YANMU’s position as a leader in sustainable logistics infrastructure in Egypt.

This milestone marks the success of YANMU Logistics Park, the first joint venture between HAU Logistics—a logistics investment platform backed by Hassan Allam Utilities and A.P. Moller Capital—and Agility, a global leader in logistics and supply chain solutions. Together, they are setting new standards for Grade A warehouses and next-generation logistics parks in Egypt. “At Hassan Allam Utilities, green investment is central to our strategy for sustainable growth,” said Amr Allam, Co-CEO of Hassan Allam Holding. “The EDGE Advanced certification awarded to YANMU Logistics Park reflects this commitment in action. This milestone was achieved through our close collaboration with CIB and IFC, whose partnership has been instrumental in aligning environmental ambitions with forward-thinking development. We are proud to lead this transformation, setting new standards for sustainability in the logistics sector and contributing to a greener future for Egypt.”

Mr. Amr El-Ganainy, CIB’s Deputy CEO & Executive Board Member remarked, “At CIB, we believe that sustainability is the cornerstone of responsible and inclusive economic growth. We are committed to integrating sustainability standards across all our operations. A key reflection of this commitment is our strategic partnership with IFC, which led to the issuance of Egypt’s first private sector green bond, valued at USD 100 million. Our financing of “YANMU”’s complex, in partnership with key partners Hassan Allam Utilities, Agility & A.P. Moller reflect the continued success of a long-standing collaboration and reaffirms our dedication to supporting smart, green infrastructure that drives the growth of the Egyptian economy.”

EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) is a global green building certification developed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. It encourages resource-efficient buildings that minimize environmental impact and reduce operating costs. In Egypt, IFC, in collaboration with CIB, offers a 2.8% cashback on construction loans for projects that meet EDGE standards.

At YANMU East, three warehouses have EDGE Advanced certification, delivering remarkable performance:

  • 49% energy savings
  • 53% water savings
  • 59% reduction in embodied carbon
