Odisha Approves 178 MW Solar And Wind Projects Worth ₹870 Crore To Boost Green Energy Capacity

The Odisha government has approved new solar and wind power projects with a combined capacity of 178 megawatts (MW), attracting investments worth ₹869.8 crore. This major decision was taken by the Energy Department’s single window committee and is seen as a significant step in Odisha’s efforts to boost its green energy sector and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. With these newly approved projects, the state’s total renewable energy capacity now stands at 1,844.86 MW, with overall investment commitments reaching ₹12,599.79 crore.

Among the approved projects, Prozeal Green Energy Limited will develop a 69.5 MW solar park at Biramaharajpur in Subarnapur district. INOX Solar Limited received approval for a 49.5 MW solar project at Telkoi in Keonjhar district. Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) was granted permission to set up a 10 MW solar project at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda district. Additionally, NLC India Renewables Limited has been approved to establish a wind power project at Papadahandi in Nabarangpur district.

These projects reflect Odisha’s ongoing commitment to expand its renewable energy infrastructure. The state is taking steady steps to strengthen its position in the clean energy sector, drawing both private and public investment in solar and wind energy.
