Food giant moves to all renewables in Europe, including biomethane

All 10 of confectionery giant Mars Snacking factories in Europe are now fully powered by renewable energy.

The US multinational firm has purchased guarantees of origin certificates for the remaining renewable electricity and biomethane equivalent to the amount of electricity and natural gas used in the company’s direct operations on the continent.

The 10 factories produce 900,000 tonnes of chocolate bar brands and sweets.

Marc Carena, Regional President for Mars Wrigley, said sustainability made good business sense and lay at the heart of its strategy.
