US helium exploration company Avanti Helium has initiated payment to modify its helium processing plant ahead of its relocation to the Sweetgrass Helium Project site in Montana, targeting production by mid-2026.
This follows an initial mobilisation payment made after signing a with an undisclosed “established helium technology provider” for the plant’s relocation.
Avanti Helium says the Sweetgrass site has a potential inlet capacity of around 10 million cubic feet a day (mmcf/d), with about 95% uptime.
The Sweetgrass development will coincide with modifying the processing plant to streamline and de-risk final-stage operations.
Additional site works include transport planning, pad completion, piping and metering, compression, and final tie-ins.
Chris Bakker, CEO of Avanti Helium, said, “With site work in Montana beginning in parallel [to processing plant modifications], we are now seeing all the major pieces come together to transform Sweetgrass into a producing helium asset.”
Amid , Avanti Helium believes Sweetgrass has potential to support domestic technology, medical, and industrial sectors.
