Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has announced a partnership with Taipei-based HD Renewable Energy Co., Ltd., a company specializing in solar power and battery storage systems. As part of this collaboration, Mitsubishi Electric will acquire a stake in HD Renewable Energy and the two companies will establish a joint venture focused on the energy aggregation business.
With rising fuel costs and a global push for carbon neutrality, Japan is increasing its focus on renewable energy. However, solar and wind power generation can be unpredictable due to changes in seasons, weather, and time of day. This creates challenges for power grid operators, who must constantly balance electricity supply and demand.
To address this, the energy aggregation market is growing. By combining multiple distributed energy resources (DERs), such as solar panels and battery storage, aggregation helps stabilize the power grid while improving the efficiency and profitability of renewable energy businesses.
